William Byron Wins Daytona 500

  The Boston Globe William Byron opens up the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season with a win in the Daytona 500.  The race was delayed a day due to weather.  Byron beat out his teammate, Alex Bowman, to the line after a caution occurred just after the field had taken the white flag.  The race did not have an official overtime finish.  Hendrick driver, Chase Elliott, along with defending Cup Series Champion, Ryan Blaney, earned stage wins in the Great American Race.  The official finishing results of the 66th Annual Daytona 500 are below: 1. Nick Sanchez Wins Trucks Opener at Daytona

  Photo: Speed Sport Nick Sanchez earned his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win Friday night in the Fresh From Florida 250.  Sanchez is entering his second full-time season in the Truck series driving for Rev Racing.  He managed to earn a playoff spot in 2023, but couldn't get the elusive win.  He kicked off the 2024 season earning that first win in a caution filled race at Daytona.  Sanchez led 26 laps during the race, the most of any driver throughout the night.  The full finishing order of the Fresh From Florida 250 is below: 1. 2024 Daytona 500 Lineup Set

  Photo: Runnin' On Scuffs After Thursday's Bluegreen Vacations duel races at Daytona, the 2024 Daytona 500 lineup is set!  For the first time since 2012, the front row is full of Fords.  Joey Logano earned Team Penske their first Pole award in the Great American Race.  Michael McDowell joins him on the front row of the season opening race for the NASCAR Cup Series. Denny Hamlin Wins 2024 Busch Light Clash

  Photo: Runnin' On Scuffs Denny Hamlin wins the 2024 Busch Light Clash at the L.A. Coliseum.  The race was moved up to Saturday night due to impending inclement weather in the California area throughout the week.  After qualifying on the pole for the main event, Hamlin slipped back through the middle part of the race.  However, Hamlin found his way back to the front batting with teammate, Ty Gibbs to with ten laps to go to win his 4th career Clash event (1st at the Coliseum).  Ty Gibbs, though finishing 18th, led a race high 84 laps.  Gibbs battled with Joey Logano throughout the race, the two exchanging words postrace. Hamlin Leads Field in Busch Light Clash Qualifying

The field is ser for the 2024 Busch Light Clash at the L.A. Coliseum for the NASCAR Cup Series.  The scheduled Saturday proceedings, including the Heat races and Last Chance Qualifying races were cancelled after NASCAR made the decision to move the main event to Saturday night.  These changes stemmed from forecasted inclement weather throughout the week.  As a result, the lineup for Saturday night's main event was set by the 22 fastest times in the final practice round along with one provisional spot for the highest driver in 2023 driver standings that had not qualified previously.  Denny Hamlin took advantage of the qualifying changes and grabbed the pole for the 3rd Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum.  The official lineup for the 2024 Busch Light Clash is below: 1.
