The Unknown Gift of a Lifetime

    Three years ago today I lost one of my heroes, John Andretti. Over the years, I’ve written to his family and shared my feelings through my social media, but with each passing year comes a new thing I remember and appreciate about John and what he gave to me.    We all have a favorite driver. Maybe that driver is  a family favorite or maybe the rival of your family's favorite. Maybe you like the car colors or number. Maybe you know the driver or they’re from your home town or state. Maybe it’s random, or maybe you’re like me where it’s a mix of sponsor and driver. I, unknowingly, became a John Andretti fan because I was a three-year-old who loved Cheerios. DEBATE: #23in23 or #24in24?

Sports are defined by the numbers.  Whether it be the number of championships a team has won or the number of points a player can put up, sports fans love to talk about the numbers.  The number that defines players the most however is the number they wear on their backs.  Sports players are defined by the numbers they wear and they leave lasting impacts.  Michael Jordan is synonymous with the #23 and Tom Brady has made the #12 mean so much. NASCAR is no different when it comes to the matter of numbers.  There are so many iconic numbers in NASCAR from the #43 to the #3 to the #24 and so many others.  NASCAR drivers carry their own number to each race track.  This number will translate to their fans in the stands who will have that number on everything they own from shirts to hats to diecasts. Travis Pastrana to attempt 2023 Daytona 500.

Former X Games gold medalist and NASCAR Xfinity series driver, Travis Pastrana will attempt the Daytona 500 in 2023. He will drive a third car for 23XI Racing. Pastrana adds his name to an already impressive list of open drivers to the Daytona 500 entry list.

Kyle Larson to Attempt Indy 500 in 2024

Kyle Larson will attempt to run the Indianapolis 500 in 2024. Larson will compete in both the this race and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600, otherwise known as “The Double”. Larson will compete for McLaren Racing in a car co-owned by Rick Hendrick. The care will be sponsored by the HendrickCars website.

BREAKING: Kevin Harvick Retires after 2023 Season

Kevin Harvick will retire from full-time competition after the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.  Kevin Harvick sits in the Top-10 of NASCAR All Time Wins List with 60 career Cup victories.  Harvick won the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series Championship.  Harvick entered in the Cup series unexpectedly after the untimely passing of Dale Earnhardt.  Harvick drove for Richard Childress Racing for 13 seasons.  For the past 9 seasons, he has driven for Stewart-Haas Racing.  Harvick also has a Daytona 500 victory as well as two Xfinity Series championships (2001,2006). PettyGMS rebrands into Legacy Motor Club.

Earlier today, PettyGMS Racing announced the team is being rebranded into Legacy Motor Club. Since the addition of Jimmie Johnson as a co-owner, the team has been searching for ways to add his legacy to the already existing legacy brought by Richard Petty. In addition, it was announced that Johnson will run the #84 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for the team in multiple races in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season. His first start will come in February as Johnson will attempt to qualify for the Daytona 500.
